The Hiwassee River Blueway is one of Southeast Tennessee’s most scenic rivers, spanning four counties and through unparalleled natural, historic and cultural resources in the region. In 2012, regional tourism entities partnered to develop the Hiwassee River into a national water trail to provide increased opportunities for recreation, conservation, tourism and education on the waterway.
